  • Experienced local guide with binoculars
  • 1.5–2 hour scenic walk along the Cliff Path
  • Whale spotting from elevated cliff vantage points
  • History and ecology of Walker Bay and Hermanus

Why a walking tour works in Hermanus

Walker Bay's geology brings the seabed close to the cliffs — meaning Southern Right Whales rest and play just metres from where you'll be standing. You'll also pass the Old Harbour, the Whale Museum and several interpretive lookouts.

Perfect alternative when seas are rough

Safety always comes first. If your boat trip is cancelled due to unsafe weather, the guided walking tour is a great way to still get close to the whales.

Views from the guided walking tour route — from the Old Harbour to the kelp-fringed coastline of Walker Bay.

  • A favourite Cliff Path bench with sweeping Walker Bay views
  • Looking down on the historic Old Harbour
  • Misty morning along Walker Bay
  • Kelp forests where Southern Right Whales rest just metres from the cliffs
  • Tidal pools and rock platforms below the path
